Since its launch on March 12, 2014, Hyundai’s new Xcent compact sedan
has recorded 11,000 bookings with the car receiving 1 lakh enquiries
across dealerships in the country as well as test drive requests.
Hyundai states that the car has generated high interest from young
families in metro and Tier II cities.
Priced between Rs. 4.66 lakh and Rs. 7.38 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Hyundai Xcent makes for a rather attractive value for money proposition against its competition. It offers a spacious cabin, the top variants come loaded with a host of features (some of which are first in class) and is offered with a choice of a petrol or diesel engine.
The petrol Hyundai Xcent is powered by the company’s four cylinder 1.2 litre Kappa2 petrol engine featuring varaible valve timing and an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 19.1 km/l. The engine develops 81PS of power @ 6,000 rpm and 114Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. The diesel fueled Xcent is powered by a three cylinder 1.1 litre common rail diesel engine that is claimed to return a fuel efficiency figure of 24.4 km/l. The 1.1 litre diesel engine develops 72PS of power @ 4,000 rpm and 180Nm of torque between 1,750 rpm and 2,500 rpm.
